Travel Information
Check In/Check Out
Check in: Friday, June 5, 2026 from 2-5pm in the North Lodge. Camp officially begins at dinner on June 5 at 6:30 PM. A recital (open to the public) will follow dinner at 8:30 PM with a reception afterwards.
Check out: Friday, June 12, 2024 no later than 10am. Camp officially ends after breakfast (at 8:30AM), and all rooms must be empty by 10 AM whether campers are driving or flying.
Getting to JMOC
Wildacres is a private facility located near Little Switzerland, NC on state road 226-A.
Free parking is available to those who drive to camp, and JMOC provides a complimentary shuttle to campers who fly into Asheville on arrival and departure days.

Early and Late Departure/Arrival
Do not arrive early at Wildacres. For those flying into Asheville Thursday evening, we recommend staying at the airport hotel.
Latecomers and those leaving camp early will be responsible for their own transportation. Please inform the director of an early departure before camp begins.
Single cab fare from the Asheville, NC airport (~1 hr. away) is ~$150.
Driving Information
Directions
Due to hurricane Helene, it is best to visit the Wildacres website or use your GPS to plan your route around current detours.
As you near the top of the mountain, turn onto the gravel road marked with the Wildacres sign. Follow the road for 1.2 miles before making the right turn at the next Wildacres sign.
Carpooling
It is sometimes possible to arrange a ride with another camper from your area. Please contact us by email to request contact information of people coming from your area.
Flying Information
Airport
The closest airport to JMOC is the Asheville Regional Airport, which is a little more than one hour from Wildacres. Anyone flying into Charlotte must rent a car to get to camp.
If you are flying from Texas or a state further West, we recommend flying in the night before as delayed flights due to weather are frequently a problem. If there are several requests for hotel information, we will do our best to get a group rate at an airport hotel.
Complementary Shuttle
We provide complimentary transportation between the Asheville Airport and Wildacres on arrival and departure days. To be eligible for the airport shuttle, campers must:
Fly into Asheville Regional Airport
Arrive before 3pm on the Friday that camp begins
Depart after 10am on the Friday that camp ends
Campers who do not meet the above requirements will be responsible for their own transportation.
All campers wishing to use the airport shuttle must complete both of the following:

Please send this information for both arrival and departure flights.
DO NOT forward your flight itinerary.Have signed/initialed copies of both of the following forms to give to the driver at the airport before getting on the shuttle (for campers who are under 18, these forms must be signed by your parents).
